About

A capital studio, not an agency.

Northwood helps founders prepare, position and raise capital with more clarity and structure. We work with a small number of companies each year, on the part of the round that decides most outcomes.

What we are

Northwood is a London studio for founders preparing to raise. We sharpen the narrative, tighten the model and structure the round, so the first investor conversation starts in the right place.

Most early-stage rounds are decided long before the first partner meeting. The shape of the story, the credibility of the model, the quality of the materials and the relevance of the investor list all carry more weight than founders are usually told.

Our principals have built operating companies and sat on the capital side of the table. The patterns repeat. What looks like an investor problem is, more often than not, a preparation problem.

We work selectively. A short engagement, a small number of founders each year, and a level of involvement that only makes sense at low volume. The work has to move the round, or we don't take it on.

The tone is plain. The output is investor-grade. The relationship is intended to outlast the round.

Operating principles

Four things we hold to, on every engagement.

A framework, not a manifesto. The qualities a round needs in order to close on the right terms, and the qualities we work on first.

01

Clarity

A round earns attention through the precision of its first sentence. We sharpen the story until it lands without translation.

02

Preparation

Most of the result is decided before the first meeting. The model, the deck and the operating logic have to hold up under questioning.

03

Alignment

A short list of investors matched to stage, sector and mandate. We don't trade volume for fit.

04

Follow-through

A weekly cadence held to close. Diligence, term sheet and signature, run with the same discipline as the preparation.

Built for the raise.

Selective by design. By referral or considered enquiry.
